Update: Victim identified in fatal hit-and-run

Update 10/20/2016 5:50 p.m:

California Highway Patrol officials have identified the victim in Tuesday’s hit-and-run crash in Gonzales. Investigators said Cody Austine Hillock died after being hit along Foletta Road just north of Alta Street.

Investigators also said Hillock had not had contact with his family since November 2015.

Update 10/20/2016 11:35 a.m.: Officials with the California Highway Patrol announced they are looking for two vehicles in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Gonzales.

Investigators said officers were called to Foletta Road just north of Alta Street Tuesday night. At the scene, officers found a pedestrian with major injuries. He later died. At this point, it is not clear if the pedestrian was in the road at the time of the crash.

Investigators said two vehicles were seen leaving the scene: a Hummer H2 and a dark sedan. CHP investigators are currently trying to determine the identity of the drivers.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

It happened at about 9 p.m. on Foletta Road just a mile north of Alta Street. The CHP said a man died and has not been identified.
