Soberanes Fire now 100 percent contained

The Soberanes Fire in Monterey County is 100 percent contained Wednesday evening, according to the Los Padres National Forest.

The fire near Big Sur has been burning since July 22. It has since burned 132,137 acres and destroyed 57 homes. The fire is also blamed for the death of a man killed while fighting the fire.

An unattended illegal campfire started the fire, according to fire officials. The person or people responsible for starting the campfire are still outstanding.

The Soberanes Fire is considered one of the costliest fires in U.S. history.
