Law enforcement search for wanted suspect in Watsonville

Half a dozen deputies and officers with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office and Watsonville Police are searching for a wanted suspect in a Watsonville neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

A lieutenant said they are searching house to house in the 2600 block of Freedom Blvd. for a man who ran during a traffic stop. Two women, who were also in the car, were detained.They said the suspect is wanted for several burglaries over the past three days, involving stolen weapons.

The sheriff’s office said its not clear if the suspect is armed right now. But they are asking people to avoid the area and report anything suspicious.
