Suspicious object in Greenfield

UPDATE: 6:53 P.M.: A suspicious object in Greenfield has been deemed safe.

Greenfield Police said the object was not a bomb.

The bomb squad is continuing to investigate.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s bomb squad is investigating a suspicious object in Greenfield.

According to deputies, a woman received a pipe with wires around it at her house Thursday evening and immediately brought the object to the police department.

The bomb squad was called out to examine the object. Deputies believe the object may be a pipe bomb.
