Santa Cruz wants to take back the Riverwalk

The City of Santa Cruz is working to clean up the San Lorenzo Riverwalk. Police presence along the river has been increased and new signs prohibit access to the river’s edge, where officials say illegal drug use was common.

In a matter of weeks, the number of transients on the trails has been reduced.

KION’s Brandon Castillo spoke with city officials and one local resident who shared her experiences on the trail. Look for his story tonight at 5 p.m..
