Greenfield boy reunited with his father after abduction to Mexico

An 8-year-old Greenfield boy was reunited with his father after he was abducted by his mother last year, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.

Investigators with the Child Abduction Unit said the boy was taken to Mexico to live with his mom and her boyfriend, against his father’s wishes. His father then filed a petition under the Hague Convention from the Central Authority of the Republic of Mexico.

The district attorney’s office said the boy was found August 22 in Huayacocotla, Veracruz. Authorities held a hearing and determined the boy should be returned to his father in California.

The boy was put in protective custody and his great grandmother traveled to Veracruz where she picked him up. Later, the boy was reunited with his father at the Tijuana border.
