Southbound Highway 1 in Soquel Reopens

UPDATE 09/18/16 4:35 PM: Law enforcement agencies, including the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, Capitola Police, Central Fire District and AMR, were assisted by a counselor from the County Mental Health department.

UPDATE 09/18/16 10:41: CHP officials confirmed that southbound Highway 1 in Soquel has reopened. Officers said the woman at the center of the Thursday morning shutdown is safe.

ORIGINAL STORY: Highway 1 southbound in Soquel is shut down Thursday morning while law enforcement try to prevent a woman from jumping onto the highway.

Officers said the woman is standing on the 41st St. overpass, attempting to jump.
