Air quality advisory issued for Big Sur, south Monterey County coastline

The Monterey Bay Air Resources District reported Friday that air quality throughout the greater Big Sur area and southern Monterey County coastline is categorized as unhealthy.

Officials urged residents to remain indoors with windows and doors closed and to reduce physical activity outdoors. Those with chronic respiratory conditions, such as asthma or heart disease, should contact their health care provider.
