Man spots his stolen car, calls police. Two people arrested
Police say a man whose car was stolen last week spotted the vehicle in Salinas. The man called police and said the person inside his stolen car had a gun, according to the Salinas Police Department.
Officers found the vehicle Friday night in the parking lot of a motel on the 100 block of John Street.
According to a press release, police say they found 36-year old Margaret LeLeua behind the wheel and saw a man going into a room at the motel.
Police say there was a short standoff and while officers got ready to force open the door of the room, 26-year old Joseph Olvera surrendered.
Police say Olvera is a parolee from Oakland. Officers also arrested LeLeua for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Officers searched the room and found an XDM replica airsoft gun, according to police.
