Salinas man found dead after crashing along River Road

A Salinas man was found dead inside his overturned truck Monday evening after a Monterey County deputy came across the crash, according to CHP.

Officers said Michael Moran, 38, wasn’t wearing a seat belt and somehow lost control of his Ford F-150 while driving northbound on River Road in Salinas around 7:24 p.m.

Investigators said the truck crashed on the passenger side along the shoulder.

The crash is still under investigation but officers said alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor.
