Carmel Valley air quality was categorized as unhealthy by the Monterey Bay Air Resources District on Sunday.
People in the area are being advised to stay indoors with windows and doors closed and reduce outdoor physical activity.
Anyone with chronic respiratory illnesses are also being advised to contact their health care provider.
