Twin Lakes Beach, it’s time for your makeover
Better beach access is in the works for Twin Lakes State Beach in Santa Cruz.
The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors today approved a $4.7 million contract for a makeover of the popular beach in unincorporated Santa Cruz County.
Quoted in a press release issued this afternoon, Supervisor Ryan Coonerty said, “The project will significantly improve coastal access for all visitors to Twin Lakes State Beach by improving safety and access for pedestrians, bicyclists, vehicles and people with disabilities. We are all eager to see this project move forward.”
The project will run between 5 th and 7 th Avenues and will also include visual improvements.
The county says the project was 20 years in the making and will connect the area to the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail and the California Coastal Trail.
The California Department of Boating and Waterways needs to give final grant approval on the project.
The County of Santa Cruz expects work to begin in September. A neighborhood meeting to discuss construction is planned, but no date has yet been set.
