Soberanes Fire forces more evacuations

The Soberanes Fire continues to grow, destroying more homes and forcing additional evacuations.

Cal Fire officials confirmed Wednesday night that a total of 34 homes have been destroyed, as well as 10 outbuildings.

Additional evacuation orders have been issued for the following areas:

– Robinson Canyon Road from San Clemente Trail to White Rock Gun Club

– The area south of San Clemente Trail from Robinson Canyon to Rancho San Clemente Gate House, to include Arroyo Seco Road

Evacuation warnings have also been added for North of San Clemente Trail/Dormody Road, including Black Mountain Trail, Touche Pass, the community of San Clemente and all of Long Ridge Trail (Black Mountain is the boundary).

The evacuation center at Carmel Middle School will close on Friday at 8:00 a.m. due to declined need by those affected.

Cal Fire officials say 2,000 homes are currently threatened. The fire has scorched 27,326 acres and is just 10% contained.
