Salinas Police bust driver for gun and drugs

(Updated to include suspect’s name) Salinas police officers smelled pot when they approached a parked car near Acosta Plaza, but found a lot more than marijuana when they asked two men to step out.

Police say the driver, Marcos Sanchez, 19, was carrying a loaded .380 semi-automatic gun in his pocket. Officers also found marijuana and four bindles of methamphetamine in the car. Sanchez was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail. A 22-year-old passenger was released.
