GOP nominates Donald Trump for President

UPDATE 7/19/16 5:46 PM: With Donald Trump officially named the GOP Presidential Candidate, people are talking about what the future may look like.

“That’s the GOP’s fault, he’s become their Frankenstein, and they have to deal with him,” said one Prunedale resident.

But with 23 percent of registered republican voters in Monterey County, some side with Trump.

“Trump just says it how it is, he says what everybody is thinking, nobody wants to come out and say it, so he’ll say it,” said Andy Yuan, a registered republican in Monterey County.

But regardless of who they’re supporting, some do feel the Republican Party is broken.

“Like, walking on eggshells, and they don’t want to be ‘that’ guy,” said Yuan, “that’s supporting someone that everyone is against, they don’t want to be in the same boat.”

Across the Central Coast, 16% of voters are registered Republican in Santa Cruz County, 23% in Monterey County, and 29% in San Benito County.
