Slideshow: 2016 GOP Convention begins in Cleveland

UPDATE 7/18/16 2:16 PM: Republican officials dismissed a last-ditch effort by anti-Donald Trump groups to force a roll call vote that sought to allow delegates to “vote their conscience” rather than back the presumptive nominee.

ORIGINAL POST: The 2016 Republican National Convention is underway in Cleveland, OH.

This afternoon, the issue of whether delegates will be required to vote for Donald Trump or be “unbound” is expected to be decided once and for all. Several efforts to “free the delegates” have already failed, and insiders expect this final effort on the floor will most likely also fail.

Monday’s theme is “Make America Safe Again.”

Prime time speakers will include Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, Lieutenant General (ret.) Michael Flynn, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), Jason Beardsley and U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke (MT).
