Fight over Privates Beach access continues

The flap over access to Privates Beach isn’t going away.

The California Coastal Commission has been at odds with residents of the Opal Cliffs neighborhood over a gate blocking access to the beach. Neighbors want to charge a $5.00 entrance fee, but the Commission says both the gate and fee are illegal without the proper permits. Soon, Santa Cruz County is expected to join in the debate.
