One person killed and another hurt in two separate shootings in Salinas

UPDATE 7/14/16 1:01 AM: The suspect in the shooting on North Main Street is described as a 5’7″ Black man, wearing all black.

He was last seen running southbound on North Main Street toward Rossi Street.

The victim is currently being treated for several gunshot wounds at Natividad Medical Center.

PREVIOUS STORY: Two people were shot in two separate shootings in Salinas Wednesday night.

One shooting was reported on the 16000 block of El Rancho Way shortly after 9:30 p.m. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said one person was shot but did not survive.

Just before that shooting, Salinas police said a 35-year-old Hispanic man was shot multiple times on the 300 block of North Main Street. He is expected to survive.

Police said the suspect in the North Main shooting was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket.

Investigators don’t believe the shootings are related.
