Broken hydrant sends water 20 feet into air

A fire hydrant was dumping water on North Davis in Salinas at 1:30 A.M. Monday morning.

Water shot at least 20 feet into the air and forced cars to use the left lane as they maneuvered around it.

Minor flooding occurred in the parking lots of nearby stores. Salinas police assisted with traffic control, allowing crews to shut off the broken hydrant.
