Man wanted for attempted murder in Salinas

Salinas Police are looking for a man wanted in an attempted homicide investigation.

According to police, 29-year-old Joshua Nunez is responsible for a shooting on Wiren Street on February 25, 2016.

Police got arrest warrants for Nunez and another shooter, 27-year-old Gil Vasquez. Vasquez was arrested after a traffic stop on Tuesday, April 19 th and is facing several charges including attempted murder and conspiracy.

Officers then went to the Nunez home on Wiren Street with a search warrant to look for evidence. SWAT also joined officers because of the suspect’s criminal history.

However, when the SWAT team arrived, they saw 42-year-old David Nunez run out of the home and throw an A-R 15 style rifle over a fence. He then ran back inside the house. Another person, 23-year-old Robert Gabriel tried to get away by jumping over a backyard fence, but was caught.

David Nunez and two women were also later detained.

Police found two revolvers and a rifle inside the home.

Vasquez, Nunez and Gabriel are all in jail. The two women were released at the scene.

Officers still did not find Joshua Nunez.

Joshua Nunez is described as a Hispanic man, 5’6″ and 165 pounds.

He should be considered armed and dangerous.
