Santa Cruz man dead after stand-off with police

A Santa Cruz man died in his home Saturday night from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a police stand-off in area of Beachview and Grandview in Santa Cruz, according to Santa Cruz Police.

According to a police press release, the man, whose identity has not been released, barricaded himself in his home following reports of a hit and run.

Police tell KION that officers knocked on the door of the man’s home and that is when the man starting shooting.

According to police, after several hours police finally went into the home and found the man’s body.
