Student stabbed near Harbor High School

UPDATE 4/15/16 4:17 PM: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office says several teenagers — one wielding a crowbar — were involved in a fight Friday that resulted in the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy. The victim was airlifted to a trauma center in Santa Clara County where he is in stable condition.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident as possibly being gang-related. The Sheriff’s Office says it is actively looking for two suspects who ran from the scene. The teens are described as Hispanic and were wearing flannel shirts at the time of the attack. The county Gang Task Force is assisting with the investigation and Sheriff’s Office patrols will be increased in the area.

According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, the incident is not believed to be associated with any particular school. Local school resource officers from all area schools have been notified and will be working with schools in assuring a safe environment.
