Man accused of robbing several banks in Santa Cruz County arrested

UPDATE 4/13/2016: The man accused or robbing several banks in Santa Cruz County has been arrested, according to the Capitola Police Department.

Randall Scott Dowling, 53, was arrested just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home in Santa Cruz, police said.

His arrest came the same day Dowling robbed a Bank of the West in Capitola.

Multiple agencies assisted in Dowling’s arrest, including Santa Cruz police and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s office.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said investigators have identified the suspect accused of robbing three banks over the last few weeks.

Deputies said Randall Scott Dowling, 53, entered an Aptos bank on Monday, demanded money, and then took off with some cash.

Deputies believe he’s the same suspect who robbed the Comerica Bank in Capitola twice in five days, March 17 and 21.

A $270,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest.
