UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies in Watsonville crash, officials confirm motorcycle was stolen

UPDATE 3/28/16 7:40 AM: Officials say a red Suzuki motorcycle failed to yield to a CHP officer, while traveling south on SR-1 at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycle exited at Airport Boulevard and continued eastbound before failing to stop at a red light, crashing into a GMC.

The motorcyclist was propelled into the air and later died on scene.

Officials have now confirmed the motorcycle was stolen out of Sunnyvale.

The driver of the GMC, along with four other passengers were not injured.

PREVIOUS STORY: The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic accident in Watsonville that shut down parts of Airport Boulevard, Sunday.

Officers said a motorcycle rider struck a vehicle a little before 2:30 p.m. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the accident is unclear and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Airport Boulevard between Freedom Boulevard and Loma Prieta Avenue is expected to reopen by 9 p.m., Sunday.

No further information on the victim has been released.
