Storm drain system repairs may cause traffic in Monterey

The city of Monterey is starting its storm drain system repairs Sunday, which may cause traffic delays in several areas.

Construction crews will be using trenchless technology to restore pipes and avoid excavating through cement; however, it is expected to cause noise, steam and some harmless odors.

The streets that will be worked on between March 20 th and March 24 th include:

Jefferson Street on March 20 th Pine Street and Veteran’s Street on March 21 st Franklin Street and Palo Verde Street on March 22 nd Madison Street and High Street on March 23 rd Soledad Drive on March 24 th

The repairs are being funded by Measure P, which is a voter approved one-cent increase in sales tax.
