UPDATE: Watsonville boy shot while sleeping ‘in good spirits’, police say

UPDATE 3/10/2016 5:09 PM: Watsonville police said a 9-year-old boy who was shot while sleeping in his bed early Tuesday morning is doing well.

Officers said they paid a visit to the boy Thursday morning and presented him with a Jr. K9.

Police are still looking for any information on the case.

UPDATE 3/8/2016 4:44PM: A 9-year-old boy was sleeping in his bed when he was hit by a bullet during a shooting early Tuesday morning, according to the Watsonville Police Department.

Officers said he is in stable condition at a Bay Area trauma center and no arrests have been made.

PREVIOUS STORY: A 9-year-old Watsonville boy was shot early Tuesday morning and there are very few details about what happened.

Just before 4 a.m., Watsonville Police, Watsonville Fire and AMR responded to the 300 block of Ford Street.

Officers found the 9-year-old boy suffering from one gunshot wound that is non-life threatening. He was air lifted to a Bay Area trauma center.

According to the police report, officers could only get a little information about what happened. It’s possible a suspect vehicle was heard speeding away from the area, but there’s no description of the car.
