18-year-old shot in the leg in Salinas

The Salinas Police Department is investigating a shooting that sent an 18-year-old to the hospital Friday night.

The shooting happened on the 800 block of Larkin Street just before 7:30 p.m.

The victim reported hearing gunshots in the area. That’s when he noticed he was shot in the leg, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police said some homes in the area were also struck by gunfire. No one was hurt.

Police said the victim doesn’t appear to have gang ties. There is not suspect information at this time.
