Marina Police searching for man wanted on drug charges

Marina Police are looking for a wanted man after running from officers Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of Carmel Ave.

Officers said Marco Antonio Velasquez-Hernandez, 19, was identified as the suspect who ran from the passenger seat of a car during a traffic stop.

A perimeter was set up near Reservation Road and Crescent Ave., after police said someone reported seeing Velasquez-Hernandez in the area.

Officers from Cal State Monterey Bay, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 unit from Salinas Police also helped with the search.

Velasquez-Hernandez was not found and police said he is wanted for felony warrants on drug related charges.
