Four teens accused of stealing two cars and leading police on a chase in Watsonville
Four teenagers are facing charges for an attempted carjacking, a stolen car and a police pursuit early Tuesday morning, according to Watsonville Police.
Officers said the attempted carjacking was reported in the 800 block of Vista Montana and about 30 minutes later a truck was reportedly stolen by the same suspects in the 100 block of Hangar Way.
Police said the suspects ages 14, 15, 16 and 17, were initially driving a white four-door Honda. Just before 5 a.m., officers said the Honda and the stolen truck were found in Corralitos.
Officers said a sergeant tried to stop the truck but the driver failed to stop and led police on a pursuit through Watsonville, all the way to Gilroy and then back to Watsonville. The truck was stopped after officers said they used a “spike strip” near the 200 block of Clifford Ave. That’s where the driver ran from the truck, but was later arrested.
Just before 5:30 a.m., officers said the Honda was found at Amnesti School, where they learned the car had also been stolen.
Four teens were arrested during the incident and were booked in the Juvenile Hall.
