UPDATE: Wildfire contained above Gilroy neighborhood, crews say

UPDATE 5/27/2015 2:48 p.m.: Gilroy Fire said a seven acre fire above the Eagle Ridge Golf Course neighborhood is 100 percent contained.

Crews said a perimeter was established around the fire at about 2:24 p.m.

They said 120 firefighters are still on scene working to mop it up and monitor hot spots.

UPDATE 5/27/2015 1:54 p.m.: Firefighters said a seven acre fire in Gilroy is 50 percent contained just before 2 p.m. Crews said the fire is above the Eagle Ridge Golf Course neighborhood and is heading up the hill, away from the homes.

Crews said no homes are threatened and no evacuations are in order. Gilroy Fire and CAL FIRE are both responding to the scene. Six engines, two bulldozers and two hand crews are working to put the fire out.

PREVIOUS STORY: Gilroy fireand CalFire have a full wildland fire response including air attack near a Gilroy neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Crews said seven acres are burning near Club Drive near Old Toms Court, next to the Eagle Ridge Golf Course neighborhood.

There are structures in the area, but there’s no word about them being threatened. No evacuations are being called for yet.

The fire was reported just before 1 p.m., crews said.
