Big rig spills berries on Highway 129 in Watsonville

Flats of strawberries and raspberries spilled when a big rig crashed into a tree Friday morning in Watsonville, CHP said.

Officers said it happened at Highway 129 at Murphy’s Crossing after the driver lost control because of an oil patch on the highway. The driver also knocked over several signs during the crash, officers said.

The driver said he was headed to Ohio.
