Hundreds of pot plants discovered in Felton building near schools

Hundreds of pounds of marijuana plants were found during a search warrant at a building in Felton Thursday afternoon after tips from concerned citizens, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives said 600 to 800 plants were removed from a uniquely designed multi-purpose room in the 6600 block of Highway 9.

The estimated value is about $125,000, detectives said. The Sheriff’s Office said the building is just down the street from San Lorenzo Valley High School, Middle School and the Elementary School, as well as several day care facilities.

The Sheriff’s Office said several agencies helped with the investigation including Felton Fire, the California Dept. of Fish and Game and the Santa Cruz County Planning Department.
