Monterey County beach bacteria hazard warning

The Monterey County Department of Public Health said its warning people not to swim in the ocean for three days following this week’s rain storm because of bacteria levels in the water.

The warning was issued at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Health officers said bacteria, viruses, protozoa or chemicals may contaminate storm drain water and any contact with that water may cause illness.
