Salinas police looking for identity theft suspect
The Salinas Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding a man wanted for attempting to pay for items at Sears using another person’s credit card.
According to police, the clerk didn’t accept the purchase because the suspect couldn’t provide matching personal information for the charge account.
After he was denied, the man tried to leave the store with the merchandise, but left the items in the store when he saw employees waiting for him at the door.
The suspect is described as a white male, unshaven with dark close cropped hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and black jacket.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact Detective Byron Gansen at 831-758-7137 or email at byrong@ci.salinas.ca.us or the tip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
