Local football player living out his dream

A local football player is living out his dream. Seaside’s Terry Poole was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks over the weekend. The offensive tackle was drafted in the fourth round, 130th overall pick.

“I was wishing to be a Seattle Seahawk most definitely,” Poole said. “I love the staff there. It’s a great situation over there and it gives me the chance to compete.”

Described by many NFL insiders as a physical player, the San Diego State player is right at home. The 6-foot-5, 320 pound Poole wants to bring it on Sundays, blocking for the Bay Area’sown Beast Mode, Marshawn Lynch.

“They’re a more physical team than a lot of other teams,” Poole said. “I’m versatile. If someone gets hurt, I’ll swing around and go wherever they need me.”

But first things first, later this week Poole is headed to Seattle, a city he calls “beautiful with beautiful lakes and lots of trees.” He’ll be participating in minicamp, scheduled for next week. He will also get a glimpse of Coach Pete Carroll’s style, known for being playful on the sidelines.

Down the road, Poole wants to do what Lynch has done for the Bay Area. He said he hopes to follow a similar line and help kids in Seaside. He said he will always remember where he came from and hopes to bring some of the spotlight back to an area that he said has great potential.

“It’s a big accomplishment for me,” Poole said. “My dad told me he always dreamed of it. It’s a true blessing.”
