Mazda Raceway and SPCA promote adoptions

A big weekend of racing at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. But on Thursday, the event was all about animals.

MazdaSpeed and the SPCA for Monterey County are promoting adoptions and at the track they held a special adoption and autograph event. The SPACE even names some of its pets after racers or iconic parts of the track like “The Corkscrew.”

“Being able to hang out with these guys is just really relaxing, so it’s really great to be able to do that, especially coming from a real high intensity environment like a race track,” racer Ben Albano.

“We had a lot of racers and track officials over here at the SPCA and meeting their namesakes and promoting adoptions, it was a lot of fun to see everybody and we’re hoping that a lot of animals get great homes,” Beth Brookhouser of the SPCA for Monterey County said.

As they prepare for the weekend ahead track officials say good puppy or kitten karma is worth at least a tenth of a second boost each lap.
