Abdul-Jabbar visits Santa Cruz middle school students with a message

NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar visited a Branciforte Middle School in Santa Cruz on Monday. Students were excited to welcome the NBA star to their school.

Abdul-Jabbar came to the Central Coast to talk about his new book “Stealing the Game.” The book is geared towards young adults, with a strong motivational message.

“Don’t ever limit yourself to thinking that you can only do one thing, you can be an athlete, you can be an academic scholar and you can excel,” Abdul-Jabbar said.

The book is about teamwork, friendship, and having faith in those in our lives who’ve earned it. 15 percent of sales from the book will go back to help support the Branciforte Library.
