UPDATE: Salinas man accused of killing his father

UPDATE: Salinas police said suspect Matthew Roberts is the son of homicide victim Jerry Roberts, 70.

Officers said they are waiting for results from an autopsy report, which is expected by the end of this week.

PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas police said they are working on a homicide investigation after they discovered a dead 70-year-old male in the 700 block of Inglewood Street on Monday night.

Officers said Matthew Roberts, 37, was arrested and charged with homicide.

This comes after officers initially responded to a home for a welfare check on a resident who lives as that location.
