Hazardous beach statement this weekend along the Central Coast

A heads up if your Valentine’s Day weekend plans take you to the beach. There’s a hazardous beach statement in effect from Sonoma to Monterey counties.

Folks that are in this area tell me that it seems like business as usual. We spoke with guy who went to go grab his Frisbee.

“It looks like it could be fun to wade in and have fun in,” said tourist Eddie Victor.

Crews said rip tides or rip currents are a concern with this kind of warning, which can drag people out into the water. The warning continues until Saturday. So crews are asking beach-goers to be on the lookout.

Park officials said hazardous beach statements are common. They’re aware of the situation and are keeping up with their regular patrols.
