Crews battle two vegetation fires along Big Sur Coast

UPDATE: 1:48 p.m.: Cal Fire crews say they’re battling a second vegetation fire on Friday afternoon near Palo Colorado. Crews report the quarter acre fire near Rock Point Restaurant.

UPDATE: Crews from Cal Fire, U.S. Forest Service and the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade continue battling a quarter acre vegetation fire along Highway 1. NewsChannel 5 has a crew on the way.

Cal Fire crews report a vegetation fire near Esalen Institute in Big Sur on Friday morning. Firefighters said the fire is about a quarter of an acre and spreading into the brush slowly.

The U.S. Forest Service and the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade are also pulling crews together.
