School district says parents are lying to get kids in to school of choice

The Gilroy Unified School District says the student population at Christopher High School has gone over the capacity the school was designed for.

Part of the problem — the district says parents are falsifying their residences to get their students into the school they prefer.

In a letter posted to the district ‘s website, the superintendent says they’ve employed a retired police officer to check out residency paperwork that looks fake.

Parents of all incoming 9th graders now need to submit “proof of residency” by April 1st, or the district will assign students to the appropriate school.
