North Monterey County High School email threat talked of shooting and bomb threat

UPDATE 2:55P.M.: Monterey County Sheriff investigators say that an email was sent early Thursday morning to several faculty members and talked about shooting random people. The sender also made mention of bomb threats. After a thorough sweep of the campus, Sheriff investigators say they found not evidence of bomb material or weapons.

The Sheriff’s Department is now meeting with school district officials to discuss the email as well as determine whether there will be school Friday.

2:24P.M.: North Monterey County High School is on lockdown, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the incident is involving a suspicious email.

Students are now being bussed off campus to the North Monterey County Middle School and parents are being asked to pick up their kids at the school on Seymour St.

Meanwhile, a head-on collision happened just before 2:00p.m. on Castroville Blvd right near the high school, causing more traffic backup.
