Man arrested after high-speed chase in Monterey County

A man is in custody after leading Monterey County sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase that ended in Castroville.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office told News Channel 5 they got a call about a suspicious person at a home in north Monterey County. Deputies said someone recognized the suspect on Manhunt Monday. When deputies arrived at the home, Timothy Rice took off and led them on a chase on Southbound Highway 101 in Salinas.

The chase ended when Rice crashed into a guard rail.

Deputies said a stun gun was used on Rice and he was bitten by a Salinas Police dog.

Rice had a felony warrant out for his arrest.
