CHP: 1 person dead after vehicle accident off state Route 9

California Highway Patrol confirms at least one person is dead following vehicle accident off state Route 9 and California Drive Wednesday morning.

Officers say at 6:40 a.m., a driver in a silver Pontiac Grand Am lost control of his vehicle as he was making a left turn through a curve on state Route 9. The Pontiac traveled across the southbound lane of state Route 9 where a GMC Suburban, driven by Issac Brooks, collided with the passenger side of the Pontiac.

The driver in the Pontiac was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say speed was a factor in the collision, but DUI is not suspected.
