Ageis Living unveils new veterans memorial wall

If you ask Richard Price to talk about World War Two, he always starts with the same story. It’s about Robie Wentworth, a man he bunked with on a ship, while serving in the Merchant Marines.

“I was the deck cadet, and this fellow, my friend, was an engine cadet,” Price said.

Their job was to transport troops and supplies across the ocean to battlefronts. Their friendship was short.

“He seemed like he was a wonderful man. I felt he was better than I was.”

Just days after the two were assigned to different ships: “His ship got torpedoed, coming out of New York City, and he was lost.”

The stories of war, and those who served, remain close to Price’s heart. Now, a new veterans memorial wall will bring those memories even closer. Eighteen picture frames line the wall, one for every veteran that currently lives at Ageis.

Price wishes Robie Wentworth could see it too, but knows the man he bunked with will always be a part of his life. He immortalized him by naming his son after him.

Price hopes the new photographs in his home will help share his story, Robie Wentworth’s story, and the stories of the many other brave veterans who served their country together.
