Veterans’ Day events around the Central Coast

Salinas: 4th Annual Monterey County Veterans’ Day Parade, Oldtown. Starts near Salinas High School on Main Street at 2:00pm

Salinas: Ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park, off of East Laurel Drive, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Vietnam vets will he honored, along with returning vets from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Monterey: YMCA Veterans’ Day Camp, runs Nov. 10-11 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for grades K-8. Locations are at the Monterey YMCA as well as the Salinas YMCA. To register, call 758-3811

Carmel: Ceremony at Devendorf Park at 11 a.m. Military officials and city dignitaries will honor veterans of the nation’s wars with a ceremony and
speeches. The American Legion in Carmel will host an open house afterward for veterans, friends and families at their facility on Dolores Street.

Marina: Ceremony and luncheon at 11 a.m. at American Legion Post 694, Marina. A ceremony also will be held at 11 a.m. at Marina VFW, 3131 Crescent Ave., Marina.

Seaside: Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. sponsored by American Legion Post 591 and the city of Seaside; City Hall by the Eternal Flame.

Hollister: The Hollister VFW Post 9242 and American Legion Post 69 will host their 13th annual San Benito County Veterans Day Ceremony and Parade. The memorial ceremony will take place at 11:11 a.m. in the Veteran’s Memorial Building and the parade steps off at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Hollister.

Santa Cruz: The Santa Cruz Warriors host the Reno Bighorns to tip-off preseason play at 7 p.m. The preseason game will honor men and women of the military as part of the NBA D-league’s Hoops for Troops program. Local military men and women will be in attendance and will be recognized for their heroic contributions and sacrifices. Santa Cruz Warriors players will wear specially designed camouflage jerseys as part of the celebration of Veterans Day. Servicemen and women from the Monterey Presidio will present the color guard and national anthem. More info here.
