Highway patrol seeks witnesses to 183 accident

A major accident that left 6 with serious injuries continues to be investigated by the California Highway Patrol. Almost a month later, 3 persons remain in the hospital from this accident.

On October 12, at 2:45 p.m., emergency responders came to a vehicle collision on SR-183 near Castroville. Upon arrival, they found a head-on collision with major injuries.

The victims in the hospital remain in the intensive care unit, including a 16 year old female from Watsonville.

The driver of one vehicle, 22 year old, Pedro Alonzo-Rodriguez of Salinas, was determined by officers at the scene to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest for felony DUI.

The CHP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to this collision.
