Scotts Valley police warn of “U.S. Treasury” phone scam

Scotts Valley police say they’ve heard from several residents who have reported receiving phone calls from an individual falsely claiming to be calling on behalf of the U.S. Treasury.

The caller says he is calling about some sort of enforcement action, and tells the resident that ignoring the call could lead to an appearance before a judge or a grand jury for a federal offense.

These calls are a scam and are not legitimate. Residents should never share personal information or send funds without verifying the authenticity of the requesting entity.
