State grants $94 million for school repair projects throughout California

The state is granting thousands of dollars to five Monterey County schools for construction projections.

The State Allocation Board said Thursday it was awarding a total of $94 million for 352 emergency repair program projects in 51 school districts within the state.

The Emergency Repair Program provides grant and/or reimbursement funding to school districts for the cost of repairing or replacing existing building systems or structural components that are broken or not functioning properly, and which pose a health and safety threat to students and staff at eligible school sites.

Gonzales High School will receive almost $2 million for three separate projects. Fairview Middle School in Gonzales and two Salinas elementary schools are also receiving the grants.
