One arrested in DUI crash that injured six people in Salinas Sunday

California Highway Patrol officers say six people were injured in a head-on crash on Highway 183 Sunday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 183 just north of Espinoza Road. Two vehicles, a Ford and a GMC, crashed head-on.

The driver of the Ford suffered moderate injuries; his two male passengers suffered major injuries. All three were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The driver of the GMC was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Her two juvenile passengers were transported to Bay Area hospitals with moderate injuries.

CHP officers said Sunday that alcohol is believed to have played a role.

The driver of the Ford, 22-year-old Pedro Rodriguez, has been arrested, according to CHP.
